Why there aren't many open source GPUs

A GPU is basically a VGA output provider.
Modern days GPUs are video drivers + Raytracing accelerators + AI accelerators

So, to make a modern day GPU, you also need to add in the accelerators.
Some projects develop accelerators separately, but all in one solutions aren't a thing in the OSHW space for now.
